Alaska Horseback
Riding...
Alaskan horseback tours are a relatively new addition to the blossoming
diversity of Alaskan tourism businesses. Currently there are several
operators conducting trail rides and wilderness adventures on horseback.
These operators are located across Alaska and offer the visitor
a look at distinctly separate and unique regions of the state.
Most horse operators in the Southcentral and Interior regions
of the Alaska offer trail rides lasting from one hour in duration
to a full day in length. One such outfitter in the Kantishna District
of Denali Park has gone one step further and now conducts wagon-rides
through the old gold-mining area. This activity will undoubtably
grow in popularity and availability.
For the more adventurous guest, there are several outfitters currently
offering wilderness vacations via horseback, ranging in length from
three days up to two weeks in duration. These expeditions take you
into the backcountry of Alaska and allow glimpses of spectacular
scenery and abundant wildlife. This is an excellent way to get the
beaten path and see the Alaska that most people only dream about!
Alaska's largest city- Anchorage, also has a variety of horseback
experiences for the visitor, ranging from wagon and sleigh rides
down town to rodeo events in the greater Anchorage and Mat-Su areas.
Whatever your taste in horseback adventure, Alaska has what you are
looking for.
